Different Types of Calls

Calls for proposals

Yorkshireurope

Calls for Proposals are calls for applications for EU funded projects. You cannot go to the European Commission with a good idea for a project. You have to respond to their calls, which have defined objectives and are financed according to a precise budget. Each Directorate General (Department of the Commission) issues calls for proposals at different times throughout the year and sometimes several calls can be issued for the same policy area.

Directorate Generals will publish their work programmes at the beginning of the year and in the work programme they will outline the types of calls they are set to issue throughout the year. This means that you can make some preparations before the call is announced.

When responding to a call, you must stick to the strict guidelines set out by the European Commission. Our step by step guide gives a broad outline of these steps.

Calls for Expressions of Interest

Calls for Expressions of Interest are published around 5-12 months ahead of launching a funding programme. This allows organisations who are interested to express their interest to participate in the programme and highlight which areas of the programme they are most interested in.

Calls for Tender

Calls for Tender invite businesses and organisations to tender for public works, supplies and services. You can monitor opportunities to tender through the Tenders European Daily database: http://ted.europa.eu .
